Living in Denial -- a Looming Nuclear Storm
UPDATE: US Sec of State Hilllary Clinton assured Israel this week that if Iran attacks Israel with a nuclear warhead, 'don't worry', the US will certainly retaliate. WHY? A nuclear attack on Israel would leave no real reason to retaliate? Is she really that stupid or does she just think Israelis are?
Pakistan released this picture of their 'nuclear-warhead ready missile in 2004: Hatf-IV (Shaheen-1) missile
If N. Korea hits Hawaii or Alaska (as became a real threat shortly after Obama told Netanyahu to lay off Iran, interestingly enough), the world would mourn the death and destruction, but the US would survive.
A nuclear attack on Israel, however, would certainly destroy the Nation, achieving Arab aims, if not Obama's. Not so many in the world would mourn her loss.
It doesn't seem too far fetched that if Iran were to decide to hit Israel, N. Korea would fire at the US at the same time. This would prevent a US counter-attack on Iran -- though it's probably an empty threat anyway. The loss of Israel wouldn't bother Obama at all, Palin's Alaska might be a slight irritation, but Hawaii, that might really get on his nerves.....maybe. Or maybe it would be just another crisis to take advantage of in his hi-speed destruction and recreation of the US.
Meanwhile, Israelis go about their daily lives trying to ensure economic survival. They are worried about keeping their jobs or finding one, keeping the overdraft down, all while trying to maintain their health and their homes. But normal worries about daily living are inadequate cover for the existential threat hanging over our heads; we are living in a form of denial.
Israelis go to work, take the kids to school, watch the sports and try to maintain normal life. They never miss the news. The news media focuses on the economy, Gaza, the budget or the latest terrorist(s) arrested. In order to maintain normalcy, there is a kind of agreement to honor the underlying denial, an unwillingness to face the growing likelihood of a nuclear war in our neighborhood.
For some years we worried about Iraq whose weapons of mass destruction didn't magically disappear; they were moved to Syria. With that at least under the radar, Libya's nascent nuclear program, financed and staffed by Iraq and Pakistan for the most part, was neutralized. Then, with North Korea's help (among others), Iran's efforts to arm itself began to be a realistic threat for the future. A little later, Syria also began to build a reactor without the need for time to independently research and develop. It had to be destroyed quickly and, with Bush's approval, it was.
However, the future is now. Even more unsettling, with Iran on an 'any day' level of readiness, Pakistan's weapons are within imminent reach of the Taliban terrorists currently fighting in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
We are on the very precipice of disaster. Meanwhile, Obama approved recent weapons sales to Lebanon (Hizbollah) and a military exercise between the Islamic government of Turkey and Syria. At the same time he began to limit weapons and military research available to Israel while removing limits on sales of advanced weaponry to the surrounding Arab powers.
Do we trust our government? Not really. Do we trust the US? Some don't; Some are confused about the conflict between statements and actions.
Be not deceived:
Obama’s controllers are determined that the recalcitrant nation of Israel will disappear from the Middle East as the result of the “peace process” they are now setting in motion. Obama was picked and groomed for this role. He is not the decision-maker; he is the salesman, a front for those who could never have been elected in the US. You will never hear him call for anything less than "keeping Israel secure" or "a fair and just peace", or "Arabs must recognize Israel". Might I be so bold as to assume that they know her when they see her! Words are cheap and getting cheaper.
The work will be mostly behind the scenes. In anything Obama says remember to look for the distortion or even the opposite of the obvious meaning. The stronger the claim of ‘transparency’, the more there is hidden. It’s true of the economy, freedom, security and above all for us, US relations with Israel.
No US or international law will be allowed to interfere with achievement of the goals they have set: to bring the US and Europe under control of an international body; to remove or neutralize the State of Israel as the only remaining obstacle to peace with the Arabs; to use peace with the Arab nations to diminish Arab terror by compromise with the extremists among them. The Jewish Lobby is not only powerless; it has been taken over by those who agree with the goals of Obama’s handlers.
On the way, the west’s democracies will continue to be diluted by increasingly powerful Muslim minorities through votes, political correctness and violent intimidation where necessary.
These plans are being implemented as quickly as possible to avoid the possibility that oblivious Americans will awaken to the disaster awaiting them and throw him out. Even if they were to take action mid-term, there would be no reversing some of the national and international changes Obama is making. We in Israel will be fortunate to avoid a major war until then -- and it may include nuclear attack.

In UK Spectator, Melanie Phillips wrote in her article Obama Prepares to Throw Israel Under the Bus as follows:
White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel reportedly told the Israel lobbying group AIPAC on Sunday that efforts to stop Iran hinged on peace talks with the Palestinians. General James Jones, National Security Adviser to Obama, reportedly told a European foreign minister a week ago that unlike the Bush administration, Obama will be ‘forceful’ with Israel. Ha’aretz reports:
Jones is quoted in the telegram as saying that the United States, European Union and moderate Arab states must redefine ‘a satisfactory endgame solution.’ The U.S. national security adviser did not mention Israel as party to these consultations.
This is shaping up to be the biggest crisis in relations between Israel and America since the foundation of Israel six decades ago. Those who hate Israel and the Jews will be gloating. This after all is precisely what they hoped Obama would do. To any decent person looking on aghast, this is where the moral sickness of the west reaches the critical care ward. <more>
In Obama’s Plan to Destroy Israel Daniel Green described Obama's process of taking over the Jewish Lobby:
Obama's people have studied the problem and understand where Carter went wrong. Obama does not want to have the same image problems as Carter in the Jewish community. Should that happen, the Beloved Leader and his lapdog press are fully prepared to unleash a Chavez style hate-on targeting American Jews. But that would be inconvenient and messy. Even with the changing face of America, there are significant differences between the average American and European or Venezuelan, and what kind of ugliness they are willing to tolerate. So Obama's people have split their attention in handling the two factors as two different problems.
American Jews - Obama has been clever about putting his Jewish appointees front and center. Like many minorities, some American Jews suffer from self-esteem problems that are soothed when they see a seeming acceptance. Of course what they fail to realize is that exploitation is not acceptance. And that Obama's appointees are creatures of his backers, Nazi collaborators like Soros, who have nothing but contempt for Jews, individually or collectively.
While outwardly courting Jews, Obama's people have also been quietly shoving Jewish organizations and their leaders into a corner. Within the Jewish organizational world there has been a silent but deadly takeover of major Jewish groups by left wing radicals. Former alumni of the far left wing and anti-Israel groups like Breira or Coname in the 70's have been elevated to key positions in such organizations as the UJA Federation. Behind the scenes any Jewish leaders who expressed even doubts about Obama during the primaries were intimidated and silenced. <more>
Caroline Glick states in her Jerusalem Post Column Obama's Green Light to Attack Iran:
Using the annual AIPAC conference as a backdrop, this week the Obama administration launched its harshest onslaught against Israel to date. It began with media reports that National Security Adviser James Jones told a European foreign minister that the US is planning to build an anti-Israel coalition with the Arabs and Europe to compel Israel to surrender Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem to the Palestinians.
According to Haaretz, Jones was quoted in a classified foreign ministry cable as having told his European interlocutor, "The new administration will convince Israel to compromise on the Palestinian question. We will not push Israel under the wheels of a bus, but we will be more forceful toward Israel than we have been under Bush."
He then explained that the US, the EU and the moderate Arab states must determine together what "a satisfactory endgame solution," will be.
As far as Jones is concerned, Israel should be left out of those discussions and simply presented with a fait accompli that it will be compelled to accept. <more>
In today's situation, Israelis might be forgiven for trying to ignore the looming threat of war. But at home, at cafes and at meetings with friends, there is hidden a continuous thread from the 'How are you?' hello to the 'It will be ok', so long of their conversations.
May God preserve us all.
